Drug NameVermox (Mebendazole)
Drug UsesVermox is used to treat infections caused by worms such as whipworm, pinworm, roundworm, and hookworm. It is also used to treat infections caused by more than one of these worms at the same time.
How to useDosage: Children (2-12 years) and adults; one tablet, once.
The dosage of Vermox does not relate to body weight - one tablet treats all body weights. No dose calculations are required.
Vermox tablets can be swallowed whole, chewed or crushed into a teaspoon of food.
Drug Class and MechanismVermox is an antihelmintic, or anti-worm, medication. It prevents worms from growing or multiplying in your body.
Missed DoseTake the missed dose as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for the next dose, skip the dose you missed and take only the next regularly scheduled dose. Do not take a double dose of this medication.
StorageStore Vermox at 77 degrees F (25 degrees C). Store away from heat, moisture, and light. Brief storage at temperatures between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 and 30 degrees C) is permitted. Do not store in the bathroom. Keep Vermox out of the reach of children and away from pets.
Possible Side EffectsStop taking Vermox and seek emergency medical attention if you experience an allergic reaction:
- swelling of your lips, tongue, or face; shortness of breath; closing of your throat; or hives.
Other, less serious side effects may be more likely to occur. Continue to take Vermox and talk to your doctor if you experience abdominal pain, diarrhea, or a fever.
